Province seeks feedback on Ancient Forest

The Lheldi T’enneh band office will be the site of the first meeting on how to preserve the Ancient Forest.

Minister of Jobs, Tourism and Skills Training, Shirley Bond says the forest is a valuable piece of land.

“This is something potentially with World Heritage status, it is spectacular, unique and significant, so we need to be looking at how we can preserve and protect this very special place.”

The meeting kicks off at 5pm tomorrow night.

Other meetings scheduled in the area include one at the Robson Community Hall in McBride on October 13th at 7pm and at the Prince George Civic Centre on October 15th at 4pm.

Residents can email comments to ancientforest@gov.bc.ca. until November 2nd.

It covers more than 12-thousand hectares of un-logged rainforest with plenty of red cedar trees over 1000 thousand years old.

The Ancient Forest is located 120 kilometres east of Prince George next to Slim Creek Provincial Park.
