Cause of City Second Hand store deemed “undetermined” due to extensive damage

The City of Prince George says the investigation into the fire that devastated the former City Second Hand store has been completed.

At around 1:30 pm on January 16th, Prince George Fire Rescue crews from four halls converged on the inferno at the 1100 block of 4th Avenue, and extinguished the blaze after a few hours of firefighting.

According to the City, the cause of the fire has been deemed “undetermined” due to the extensive amount of damage.

A possible cause has been deemed as accidental due to inappropriately stored materials within the building.

Additionally, the City says there is nothing to suggest any unauthorised people had entered the building before the fire, and the RCMP have not been engaged.

No further updates will be provided.
