Downtown Prince George is in for some winter festivities

Prince George will have a winter atmosphere, while celebrating this year’s Downtown Winterfest.

The celebration, located at Veteran’s Plaza at City Hall, will have various activities and sculptures from Ness Lake ice for residents to see and enjoy.

Downtown Prince George Executive Director, Colleen Van Mook says regardless of weather, there’s something to take part in.

“We have the Railway Museum that’s bringing the mini rail, we’ve got Engage Sport North, they’re going to come and bring some try-it sports.”

“We will have road hockey so, the kids can bring their sticks and play with the Cariboo Cougars, and really have some fun in Downtown Prince George.”

Van Mook adds there will also be an ice slide, food trucks, and a s’more contest, with proceeds going to the charity of choice for those participating.

Ephemeral Arts and Friends are creating the ice sculptures, which will be part of the ice wall and slide for people to take pictures with.

The Downtown Winterfest will be on Saturday, from 11am to 4pm.

More information about Downtown Winterfest can be found on Downtown Prince George’s website here.
