Product to protect homes from wildfires born from BC wildfires

Homeowners have another option for home protection from wildfires.

The Rural and Urban Fire Suppression System (RUFUS) was created by a company based in Red Deer, Alberta, with the idea coming after wildfires in areas including the Cariboo and further north.

CEO of CJS Industrial, Jason Sansregret says they wanted to create something more effective to help property owners.

“I’m watching people trying to defend their property with a garden hose or a sprinkler system, and I was thinking with all the advances in technology, there’s gotta be an easier way.”

“We sat down, and we started coming up with something that was user-friendly, easily portable, and would do the job.”

Sansregret says anyone who’s been evacuated are able to stay updated on their property with the system’s camera, and be able to start the systems humidity bubble, covering roughly 31,000 square feet.

The bubble prevents embers from entering, and soaking the area within it’s range.

He also highlights the system still being able to be deployed to create a form of defence when firefighters have to back of due to fire intensity and for safety.

The system has been in the works for roughly two years, already being used in oilfields, and is available for property owners in BC.

More information about RUFUS can be found on CJS Industrial’s website here.
