UNBC WSOC sign Chilliwack goalkeeper

The UNBC Timberwolves have added another talented goalkeeper to the pitch ahead of the 2025 season.

Women’s Soccer head coach Neil Sedgwick announced today (Wednesday) Taylor Klassen (Chilliwack, B.C.) has committed to the program.

Klassen, 17, currently attends Chilliwack Secondary School and played for the Chilliwack Storm under head coach Daniel Northgraves. A three-year starter, she nabbed MVP honours in 2024.

At the club level, Klassen plays for Tzeachten FC which is coached by Kevin Raffle. In 2023, the 17-year-old helped the Tzeachten FC Eagles to a Silver Medal at Provincials but won Gold at the BC Coastal Cup.

A year prior, Klassen’s team won Gold in Provincials, and Silver in the BC Coastal Cup.

“I’m able to get down very quick as a tall keeper. I love 1-on-1 situations and I’m extremely vocal on the field,” shared Klassen who plans to pursue a Bachelor of Science degree at UNBC with the hopes of one day becoming a veterinarian.

Klassen and coach Sedgwick have been chatting back-and-forth for the last two-plus years, and both sides are excited to begin the next chapter.

“When I first met Neil, my first impression of him was that he was so nice,” recalled Klassen. “He’s passionate and knowledgeable and he gave such great insights that I could apply to my practices and games.”

“We are excited for Taylor to be attending UNBC,” added Neil Sedgwick. “She is an experienced keeper at the youth level and already has a great deal of senior experience. Taylor’s maturity and future goals will help guide her development throughout her career. Her character will be great for the locker room as she is always a giver of energy and enthusiasm. We are excited for Taylor to be attending UNBC.”
