Burns Lake RCMP arrest man and faces charges for alleged assault and arson

32-year-old Gerald Eric Noth is in custody, facing multiple charges in relation to an alleged assault and arson.

At 1:30 yesterday morning, the Burns Lake RCMP responded to a report of a man struck by a vehicle in Southbank, roughly 29 kilometres south of Burns Lake.

They were taken to hospital for serious injuries, and the victim’s residence was later discovered to be engulfed in flames.

After locating the suspect at his home, police took him into custody without incident.

Noth has since been charged with aggravated assault, assault with a weapon, arson, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, and breach of undertaking.

The RCMP said the incident is believed to have been targeted, with no ongoing risk to public safety at this time.

He’s scheduled to appear in court by video on Tuesday.

The investigation is ongoing, and no further details will be provided.
