The Prince George Cougars picked up just one out of a possible four points on a two game road trip. The Cougars fell 2-1 in overtime in Everett followed by a 5-2 loss in Kamloops. Prince George remains third in the BC Division with an 8-7-1 record, just a point ahead of 8-8 Kamloops. The Blazers have won five straight. The Cougars host the 7-9-3 Edmonton Oil Kings Friday and Saturday before they meet the Blazers again, Sunday in Kamloops.

–The Prince George Spruce Kings lost all three games on their Island trip, earning one point. The Victoria Grizzlies scored four straight goals in the third period to dump the Spruce Kings 7-3 on Sunday. Earlier on the weekend, Prince George fell 4-3 in overtime Saturday in Alberni Valley and 6-2 Friday in Powell River.

The 5-14-0-2 Spruce Kings are five points behind (7-10-1-2) Coquitlam for the 4th and final playoff spot in the BCHL Mainland Division. P.G. goes back on the road to play at (13-5-2-1) Wenatchee Friday, (12-5-1-2) Chilliwack Saturday and (4-17) Surrey on Sunday. Their next home game will be on Wednesday, November 18th against West Kelowna.

–The Cariboo Cougars split a home double against the Fraser Valley Thunderbirds. The Major Midget Cougars won their 5th straight game 4-1 in the opener but the 5-5-4 Thunderbirds came back with a 5-4 triumph even though Cariboo outshot Fraser Valley 49-20. The 9-5-2 Cougars host the league-leading (11-3) Vancouver North West Giants Saturday night at 7:15 and Sunday morning at 9:15 at Kin 1.

–The UNBC Timberwolves began their Canada West basketball season by losing a doubleheader in men’s and women’s action to the visiting TRU WolfPack of Kamloops. The TRU men won both games by close margins: 94-89 followed by 85-79. The WolfPack dumped the Lady T-Wolves 69-54 and 85-58. The 0-2 Timberwolves visit UBCO in Kelowna Friday and Saturday before hosting the Fraser Valley Cascades November 20th and 21st.

–Simon Nemethy of Nechako Valley finished 3rd out of 210 runners to earn a bronze medal at the High School Provincial X-Country Jr. Championships in Vancouver.

–The College Heights senior boys volleyball team finished 7th with an overall 3-2 record at the George Elliot Coyote Classic in Kelowna. College Heights beat Pen Hi (Penticton) 2-0, beat Abby Christian (Abbotsford) 3-0, lost to Fulton (Vernon) 3-2, lost to Mt. Boucherie (Kelowna) 2-1 and beat W.L. Seaton (Vernon) 2-0. The next tournament will be Zones hosted by DP Todd on November 20th and 21st.
