Food Bank looks for Holiday Donations

The Salvation Army Food Bank is looking for more donations as the cold holiday season settles upon us.

“We’re currently serving about 1,500 families each and every month, which is a staggering number.” said Neil Wilkenson with the Salvation Army. “It translates to about 4,000 people. Thank god that we have an amazing community that are able to support us.”

As the winter temperatures set in, Wilkenson recommends donating high-protein canned goods such as tuna or peanut butter.

“We were serving somewhere in the range of 1,100 to 1,200 families per-month last year. We’ve just seen a very sharp incline in the number of people accessing the food bank this year.” said Wilkenson.

Donations can be dropped off at the Salvation Army location on 18th avenue.
