The Health and Wellness Innovator of the Year Award has been presented to two local doctors in Prince George.
Dr. Haidar Hadi says the Northern Race Line has eliminated several unnecessary steps for both the patient and doctor.
“So instead of calling the on-call physician, the family doctor can speak to someone who has specific expertise in that area.”
Hadi says the service has picked up speed since it’s inception.
“The take-up was very slow when we started but now have 37 calls a month compared to just 2 or 3 every two weeks when we began.”
Dr. Dan Horvat also received the honour.
The Race Line is an automated system providing doctors with a 1-800 hotline number to call a specialist for quick and easy advice regarding their patients.
Calls on average last between 5 to 15 minutes.
