Cougars crush the Ice

Chase Witala keeps scoring and the Prince George Cougars keep winning.

Witala notched a third period hat trick, his second consecutive game with three goals, helping the Cougars crush the Kootenay Ice 7-2 to the delight of 2,350 fans.

The 20-year-old Witala leads the Cats in goals with 17 and is second in points with 25 after 29 games.

Brad Morrison tallied twice and led all players with a plus 3 rating.

The result extended several streaks: the Cougars have won six in a row, they have earned at least a point in nine straight games (8-0-0-1) and in 10 in a row at CN Centre.

Meanwhile, last place Kootenay has dropped eight straight with the Ice outscored 42-9 during the stretch.

The 18-9-1-1 Cougars are 3rd in both the BC Division and Western Conference, two points behind Victoria and seven back of Kelowna.

Prince George will play its next three games on the road: Friday and Saturday in Portland and Tuesday in Seattle before returning home to entertain Victoria on December 18th and 19th.
