Kody McDonald notched a hat trick in his 100th WHL game to lead the Prince George Cougars to a 6-2 victory over the Seattle Thunderbirds before 2,351 fans at CN Centre.
McDonald broke open a 1-1 game with the only two goals of the second period and added his third in the final period just 30 seconds after Jansen Harkins tallied on a penalty shot.
Chase Witala with his 26th, and Tate Olson into an empty net rounded out the scoring for the P.G. who outshot the guests 29-27.
The 26-15-1-1 Cougars have moved into a second place tie with Victoria in the B.C. Division with the Cats holding a game in hand which they will make up this evening (Wednesday) when they once again host the Thunderbirds.
