The community of Vanderhoof is celebrating its 90th birthday…

To mark the milestone, elementary school students sang Happy Birthday and celebrated with cupcakes at the arena yesterday.

Today, festivities continue with a host of events at Riverside Park including a cross country ski competition, giant bonfire, sleigh rides, and live music beginning at 3pm.

District of Vanderhoof Deputy Director of Community Planning, Hilary Irving, says this is her first major event in her new position and it’s been wonderful to learn about the community.  She says a number of local groups worked together to make today’s celebration a success.  The party will end with a ‘bang’, with fireworks set for 6pm.
