It’s a sombre day within the education ranks in Prince George due to the death of Matt Pearce.
The 48-year-old Prince George Sports Hall of Famer and past president of the PG Teachers Association
passed away suddenly early Saturday morning.
School District 57 Interim Superintendent Sharon Cairns says his passing creates a big hole in a number of areas.
“I think the students and the teachers have lost a great champion in Matt within the classroom, the teachers association and also a coach and athlete.”
Pearce was a teacher at College Heights Secondary School.
He was also a strong voice for teacher’s rights in the city.
MYPGNOW Sports Director Harley Miller has this tribute to Matt Pearce with the link down below.
