After getting eliminated by the Prince George Spruce Kings during last year’s playoffs, the Langley Rivermen went a perfect 7 for 7 this season by defeating them 5-1 on Thursday.
Matthew Graham potted his 23rd of the season at 19:11 of the first period to put the visitors up by 1 after 20 minutes.
Langley went up a pair, courtesy of Justin Szeto’s 16th of the campaign at 14:06 of the second period.
Tanner Campbell cut the deficit in half on the power-play to make it 2-1 heading into the intermission.
Adam Sinclair, Max Kaufman and Torrin White iced the win by scoring in the third.
Spruce Kings Forward, Cavin Tilsley says they have to execute at crunch time.
“At the end of the day it comes to doing your job in all 3 zones which we failed to do in the third.”
Tanner Campbell echoed that sentiment.
“We just can’t string a full 60 together. It’s been kind of a haunting of late but if we figure that out we will be fine.”
Campbell says they left too many good opportunities on the table, something you just can’t do against a deeper team.
“With teams like Langley, if we don’t score we won’t be in the game, our power-play has to be better by putting more in the net.”
The Spruce Kings host Alberni Valley on Friday night at the Rolling Mix Concrete Arena.
Puck drop is slated for 7pm.
