Prince George will be doing it’s first homeless count since 2010.
It’s part of the This Point-in-Time program organized by Ottawa.
Kerry Pateman with the Community Partners Addressing Homelessness says the demographics of the homeless has changed. “We are looking for new information on the current population. It was though and then eventually true that most homeless people were male, that’s not the case now.”
This year’s count will take place during a 24 hour period starting at 6 am on April 18th and will wrap up at the same time the following day.
Anyone interested in volunteering can contact Ashley Thandi at [email protected] by March 24th.
They need between 40 and 60 able bodies for the project.
Survey’s are being held in shelters, transitional housing facilities and drop-in centres.
