CNC is partnering with Skills Canada British Columbia to host a skills competition for the Central Interior on Wednesday.
The one-day event is to get people interested trades sector careers.
Katrina Molendyk with CNC says a handful of events will be taking place. “We have a total of five competitions. They are welding, culinary arts at the secondary and post-secondary levels, cabinet making and computer networking.”
It runs from 8 am to 2 pm with awards to follow at 2:30.
The competition will be held at the Canfor Tech Centre and the John A. Brink Trades and Technologies Centre.
Students from grades 6 to 12 will be competing and it’s one of 13 competitions taking place across the province.
By 2024, B.C. is expecting nearly one million job openings due to retirements and economic growth.
