Prince George residents will have the chance to be a bit more green during Earth Hour Saturday night.
ITt takes place province-wide from 8:30 to 9:30 pm and Recycling and Environmental Action Planning Society Spokesperson, Terri McClymont says people can contribute a number of ways.
“Unplugging your un-used electronics or turning off the lights. All of these things and having this one-hour symbolizes what each person can do”
The global event was started in Sydney, Australia back in 2007 by the World Wildlife Fund to raise awareness about the effects of climate change.
Last year’s Earth Hour resulted in 15-megawatt hours of electricity saved reducing the overall electricity load in B.C. by 0.2%.
7,000 cities worldwide participate in the event.
