Prince George experiencing early rash of bike thefts

We’re not even finished April yet, and there have already been 50 bike thefts in Prince George.

In 2015, the Prince George RCMP received over 250 reports of bicycle thefts and Corporal Craig Douglass says it’s not an uncommon problem this time of year.

“Usually, we do get a spike this time of year since winter is done and more bikes are on the road so the opportunity to steal these bikes increases by people not being responsible and leaving them out which makes for easy pickings.”

Tips for bike owners when they first purchase one is to record your serial number along with the make and model in a safe place.

Bikes should be locked to only solid metal objects according to police.
