City of Prince George recognizes volunteers

A dozen volunteers or groups are being recognized by the City of Prince George through the 2016 Civic Appreciation Awards.

This years winners gathered at City Hall this morning for a group photo, before Saturday’s annual awards dinner at the Civic Centre.

“If it wasn’t for volunteers, we would be in pretty tough shape and that was no more indicative of what happened during the Canada Winter Games.”Mayor Lyn Hall said “Thousands of volunteers stepped forward to help us out with the games, volunteers are without question the backbone of our community.”

This year’s recipients are;

Access Award of Merit – Tabor Mountain Recreation Society
Community Service Award – Trelle Morrow, Don Homan, Macelle Carr
Heritage Citation Historic Places Award – Prince George Citizen
Outstanding Volunteer Award or Merit – Wendy Ulch, Noreen Rustad
Recreation and Culture Award of Merit – Nowell Senior, Neil Taylor, Allan Thorp
Youth of the Year – Daniel O’Reily
Youth of the Year Honourable Mention – Mackenzie Kerr, Sakshi Satish
