Youth athletes recognized by PG Sports Hall of Fame

Two local athletes were among 12 recognized for their efforts at the Prince George Sports Hall of Fame Banquet last month.

Brogan O’Brien of the Prince George Cougars says it’s flattering to be highly looked upon by other people. “I have grown up here all my life since I started playing hockey at the age of 6 and it’s nice they all recognize me and moving up from the Spruce Kings to the Cougars now and am just looking forward to the future.”

Lavanna Laass is a local Judo competitor who picked up a silver medal at the Canada Winter Games in Prince George and cherishes the honor. “I feel really honoured and I feel so blessed and thankful to have this, it’s absolutely amazing.”

She believes her efforts paid off after picking going to the podium in her hometown.

“It’s really started everything for me like moving to Lethbridge and it spurred my international competitions this year and especially receiving all the support which pushed me to believe in myself.”

Other youth athletes who were recognized include:

Tyrell Laing (Basketball)
Rylan Matters (Football)

Ryan Gaiesky (Track and Field)
Tristina Howse (Wrestling)
