BC housing starts are expected to jump in 2016 with more moderate figures expected in 2017.
Taylor Pardy with the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation says Prince George should enjoy similar success.
“The outlook for new home construction in Prince George is expected to positive during the 2016/17 period with housing starts expected to be higher this year with more moderate figures next year.”
Housing starts in BC are expected to total between 35,300 to 36,700 units in 2016 and between 31,400 and 33,600 units in 2017.
New home construction in Prince George is expected to be supported by low mortgage rates and a tighter resale market for listings in the area.
