A public open house is slated for July 6th in Prince George on the Lheidli T’enneh treaty.
It’s being held at the Civic Centre from 5 to 8 PM and Minister of Aboriginal Relations, John Rustad says the first nation would benefit greatly if they vote yes.
“They would get around 4,340 hectares of land with 1,183 of that in Prince George, a one-time capital transfer and some annual funding as well to the tune of $2.2 million dollars a year for things such as health, education, social development and governance.”
The treaty vote will take place during the week of October 15-22 with the voting taking place in Vancouver, Prince Rupert and Prince George.
The dates are as follows
– October 15th in Vancouver
– October 18th in Prince Rupert
– October 21 and 22 in Prince George
This will be the second time the Lheidli T’enneh will vote on treaty.
