Stolen mountain bike recovered by Prince George RCMP

The high-end mountain bike that was stolen last week from outside a local fast food restaurant has been located and Prince George RCMP believe they have one of the people responsible in custody.

Yesterday morning, officers found the black and red Specialized P26 mountain bike in the possession of a 26 year old male. The bike was in the process of having its paint and decals removed and was missing some parts. It has now been returned to its owner.

The man was arrested without incident. He is believed to be the male described as riding away on a lime green BMX when the mountain bike was stolen.

He was riding with a woman and the RCMP are still searching for her. She is described as a First Nations woman, about 25 years old, and was wearing a long sleeved red jacket, blue jeans and was carrying a backpack at the time of the theft.

Police are reminding bike owners to always lock up your bike. They’re holding a few more bike registration events this week. The process is free and only takes about 5 minutes per bike.
