Brooks sounds off on Median employment income numbers

$31,100 was BC’s Median employment income in 2014 according to Stats Canada.

That falls below the national mark of $32,800.

Dan Brooks is a leadership candidate for the BC Conservatives and believes wages need to rise in order to match the province’s economy. “If you’re going to brag about how prosperous our economy is in the province, why aren’t we seeing the same sort of prosperity reflected in their incomes and that is the real issue here.”

In Alberta, the median employment income was $9900 higher than in British Columbia.

Brooks adds some of the higher paying jobs in Northern BC should be put in the spotlight.

“We’ve got to have good high paying jobs and most of those jobs are in the north’s resource sector. We have billions of dollars worth of projects basically sitting there and the Liberals have been unable to get them up and running.”

Here is the rundown of the Median employment income chart.

– Canada $32,800

– Alberta $41,000

– Saskatchewan $36,700

– Ontario $33,000

– Manitoba $32,500

– Newfoundland and Labrador $31,700

British Columbia $31,100

– Quebec $31,000

– Nova Scotia $29,700

– New Brunswick $29,000

– Prince Edward Island $25,200
