BC NDP searching for candidates in Prince George

BC NDP Prince George-Mackenzie constituency president Bobby Deepak says British Columbians are ready to shake the Liberals.

According to Deepak, the lengthy run by the Christy Clark government has been marred by nothing but controversy.

“They’ve run a government that has made bad decisions, promises they haven’t kept and they seem to conjure up new scandals everytime you look around.

Deepak has not ruled out running again himself but says they have received a lot of interest in both ridings.

He lost to Mike Morris during the 2013 provincial election.

Affordability remains a high priority for the New Democrats and Deepak believes the Liberals have misguided the public on the province’s economy.

“We have seen pressure on wages, user fees are higher due to hydro costs, ICBC rates, insurance premiums, and the BC Liberals continue to rely on the economy so to speak, but even that economy is based on the housing market in the lower mainland.”

A nomination date will either be in the fall or the new year.

Trent Derrick is the Chair of the candidate search committee chair for the NDP Prince George-Valemount riding.

“We do have a few people who are seriously considering, and are interested in it so they are just weighing their options right now. It’s great that they’ve come forward and have reached out.”

The NDP pledge if they win next year Medical Service Premiums would be phased out in the first term.
