The Prince George Knights ended a long Sunday as champions defeating the Ladner Red Sox 8-7 in the final of the Baseball BC Midget AA Provincial Championship at Citizen Field.
Prince George began the day with a 13-3 win over the Campbell River Tyees in an early morning tie-breaker game.
The Knights then prevailed in the semi-final with a 9-2 victory over Tsawassen Dodgers.
The host team then completed the hat-trick on a suicide squeeze in the bottom of the seventh inning to win the title.
Knights Coach, Shane Taylor says he couldn’t be more pleased to win the tournament at home.
“Very proud of the boys they had an unreal year after placing second in Senior Men’s and going to back to win a championship at home means a lot to the community.”
Despite being down 3-0, 5-2 and 7-6 at various parts of the game the team never gave up according to Taylor.
“They have been doing it all year, they don’t have a die attitude and even when Ladner hit the two-run homer the kids were telling me after and said they had confidence to come back and win that game.”
