An innovative conference is coming to Prince George this fall.
The Civic Centre will host the “Healing Through Learning : Trauma-Informed Practice in Northern BC” from October 19-21.
RCMP Victim Services Coordinator, Krista Levar says two former professional athletes will be part of the long list of guest speakers.
“We have Theo Fleury an ex-NHL player and abuse survivor talking about his experiences with alcoholism and drug addiction and we also have CFL player JR Larose from the Be More Than s Bystander campaign.”
Levar adds the event will be broken down in three parts.
“The first day is going to be more of an educational event and focus on the psychology behind trauma, the second day is a bit more about the experiences of people and finally the last day is about the healing processes.”
The conference will also include a celebratory dinner hosted by RCMP Superintendant Warren Brown.
