20 new fires sparked over the weekend

20 new fires were sparked over the weekend in the Prince George Fire Centre.

Here’s Fire Information Officer Jill Kelsh on what instigated the blazes.

Kelsh says the largest fire is 20 hectares and is in the Dawson Creek zone – she says there’s also a 10 hectare inferno burning just east of PG.

This year to date she says there’s been 186 fires; slightly higher than the 173 which had burned at this point last year.
