Housing construction sees a spike in August

21 new homes broke ground last month in Prince George.

19 of those came on the single detached side of things.

The year to date numbers haven’t been bad either according to Canada Mortgage Housing Market Analyst, Taylor Pardy.

“There has been 231 housing starts this compares to the 177 over the same period last year. On the single detached side, starts are up slightly with 113 compared to 106, multi-units starts are up to 118 compared to just 71.”

Cities of similar size are experiencing the same fate.

Kamloops has recorded 447 new starts while places like Vernon and Courtenay have 242 and 191 respectively.
