Wesmen ripple the onion bag against T-Wolves

Talk about spoiling the party.

The Winnipeg Wesmen women’s soccer team crashed the party on Friday as they cruised to a 4-0 of the UNBC Lady T-Wolves.

After an even start U of W put the foot on the accelerator by rippling the mesh twice within a 3 minute span courtesy of a Maeghan Lindsay free kick followed by a Jamila Calvez marker for a 2-0 lead at half-time.

The Wesman smothered UNBC in the second half by forcing turnovers deep inside Timberwolves territory.

Hannah Lindgren joined the goal-fest by tapping in an easy rebound off goalkeeper Lianna Toopitsin.

Lindsay added her second in the 70th minute drilling one past Toopitsin off a free kick.

Winnipeg outshot UNBC 15-4.

The contest marked the Canada West debut of T-Wolves freshmen Mara McCleary and Paige Payne.

UNBC will host the Manitoba Bisons at Noon on Sunday from the NCSSL Fields while the Wesmen head to Edmonton to play Alberta.
