BC Hydro with tips on staying cool & saving energy over summer

The heat has brought up BC Hydro’s electricity load, and the power supplier is giving the public tips on how to conserve energy.

They say shading your windows, using a ceiling fan instead of air conditioning, and hanging at least half your laundry to dry instead of using the dryer are all ways to keep your energy consumption down.

Spokeswoman Mora Scott says you can also track your electricity consumption online.

Scott says while their electricity load is up, it’s still much lower than what they see in the winter.

Northern home sales on par with 10-year-average: B.C. Real Estate Association

Through the first seven months of this year, 2,466 unit sales have taken place in the BC Northern Real Estate Board while 2,391 transactions occurred at the end of July 2024.  The average home price in the north is $470,919 - a 10.5% increase when compared to 12 months earlier.
