Diverted WestJet flight lands safely at YXS, all passengers rerouted

Despite tense moments this morning, an emergency landing at the Prince George Airport went about as smoothly as it could have.

It all started when WestJet Flight 3105 took off from Vancouver this morning, bound for Terrace.

” At about 10:30 am, the pilots radioed the tower saying that there may be an issue with their landing gear,” says Lindsay Cotter, spokesperson for the airport. “The Prince George Airport Authority opened up our Emergency Operations Centre to assist in any way that we could.”

There were 40 passengers and 4 crew members on board the diverted aircraft. Thankfully, the plane was able to land just before noon without incident.

“We had Prince George Fire Rescue, the Pineview Volunteer Fire Department, the RCMP and BC Ambulance Service all on site to help. The collaboration between all agencies went according to plan and everything went well.”

RCMP had Victims Services on scene to provide support to passengers. Cotter says WestJet has accommodated all passengers with alternate travel arrangements.
