Operation Red Nose’s first weekend of 2016 was a positive one.
Spokesperson, Andrea Johnson says things picked up by the second half of the weekend.
“We delivered 74 safe rides over the course of the two days. On Friday, we had 13 teams who provided 20 rides and then on Saturday we delivered 54 safe rides home.”
In 2015, they provided 32 rides during opening night and delivered 56 rides on day 2.
Johnson adds they don’t anticipate any problems going forward, but admits more bodies are needed.
“We’re in pretty good shape for volunteers so we should be fine for this weekend. What we are looking for is more people to help us on New Year’s Eve which is much busier historically and is the final weekend of the season.”
The 2015 campaign netted 1058 safe rides home.
