Suspicious vehicle call leads to stolen vehicles investigation

The Prince George RCMP has one person in custody after a suspicious vehicle call evolved into a stolen vehicles investigation.

Police heard of one suspicious vehicle parked between two commercial businesses on Otway Road around 3:30 AM on Saturday, December 10th.

Upon police arrival, the vehicle took off, went through two ditches, hit the side of a police car, and headed towards Miworth. The RCMP did not pursue it and found the vehicle abandoned in a ditch a few minutes later. Police ran checks on the vehicle and found it was stolen from Dawson Creek on December 5th.

Police dogs tracked a female hiding under a fallen tree. Police allege she did not cooperate with commands and arrested her around 5:20 AM.

After that, RCMP determined another truck had been stolen from the same business as the first. The second truck was found abandoned a short distance away. Dog teams tracked down two more suspects: one was tracked to another business where a third vehicle was stolen. That vehicle was described as a white 2006 Ford F250, short box pickup truck bearing BC licence plates “DY8093.” The second was tracked to a residence where police say a female suspect asked a resident to call a taxi.

The suspects nor the truck have been located.

Police describe the female who called a taxi as:

  • Caucasian female
  • 168 cm (5’6″)
  • 68 kg (150 lbs)
  • Reddish hair with a bun or ponytail
  • Wearing jeans, a red or maroon coat and brown boots

Christina Louise Nellis – who RCMP say is a 34-year-old female from Dawson Creek with history in Prince George – has been charged with the following:

  • Assault Peace Officer with a Weapon
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime
  • Flight from Police
  • Fail to Comply with Recognizance (2 counts)

The investigation is continuing.
