Air Quality Advisory reaches third consecutive day in Prince George

The Air Quality Advisory in Prince George has entered its third day.

A high concentration of fine particulates in the air caused the warning, and stagnant air will keep the advisory in effect.

Air Quality Meteorologist, Gail Roth says the Ministry of Environment is keeping a close eye on the situation.

“For this case it will be when the weather system moves out which we don’t expect to see until the next 24-48 hours, some times we have local effects that improve or make the situation worse but we do monitor it hour to hour.”

Northern Health recommends keeping windows and doors closed, and to reduce indoor sources of pollution such as smoking, and use of wood stoves.

The advisory has been in effect since Wednesday.

Public transit will continue to be free until the advisory ends.
