"Shocking breach happened" – Harris

The MP for the Cariboo says its a terrible shock there was a breach at the Mount Polley mine tailings pond. Dick Harris says while he himself is not going out to the area, he is getting hourly updates.

“They’re the experts, I’m going to trust their judgement, of course the province of BC has the lead on this provincially as well and they will be working with Environment Canada.”

Harris says the Department of Fisheries of Oceans is also involved to monitor sockeye salmon levels. He says if he were to go out to the area, it would only be to take a look.
