Prince George businesses and other organizations are pulling together to host a community event in Lheidli T’enneh Memorial Park on Saturday.
Spruce City Wildlife’s Steve Hamilton says they wanted to put on a BBQ for evacuees and it took off from there.
“We got chatting with some other like-minded user groups and it has exploded. The sponsors have stepped up and volunteers have stepped up and turned it into quite the full-blown event so we’re pretty excited about it.”
Hamilton says they would be disappointed if there was not a good turnout. “We are hoping to see every evacuee that and there is absolutely no charge for anything we are going to be doing for them, we will have some music and food and some kids events. We are just hoping to make forget about the fires.”
The event will begin at noon today and run until 4 pm.
Hamilton says activities and food will be free for evacuees and by a donation from residents.
