Heat records may have been broken, but fall is still on the way

This past weekend was a surprisingly warm one that broke records, but with the start of fall on Tuesday, we can expect the return of rainy , wet, weather.

That from Meteorologist Doug Lundquist, who says a cold front that came through early Monday will bring the start of a series of showers.

“The flow is coming off the Pacific, and it will be generally cooler with a daytime highs in the mid to high teens, pushing 20 every now and then, for the next few days,” he says. “But the overnight lows are going to be between six and 13 degrees, which is way above the normal four degrees.”

Looking a few weeks into the future, Lundquist says it will stay warmer than average.

After this past weekend saw record-breaking heat, recording a high of 28 degrees on Sunday, breaking the previous high set in 1950 at 26.7, Meteorologist Doug Lundquist notes this whole summer was a dry one.

“We were quite a bit below average for precipitation and temperature wise as well,” Lundquist notes. “In the last 90 days in Prince George, we’ve been a little more than one degree above average for temperature, so we’ve been on the side of very dry and warm for the last while”.
