ICBC warns caution on BC highways this Thanksgiving

The Thanksgiving weekend is one of the most dangerous for Northern BC drivers, according to an ICBC study.

Road Safety Coordinator Diana Pozer says the North Central region sees 130 crashes over this period with 18 people injured, on average over the long weekend.

Given the rain in the forecast coming up, she has some advice to keep yourself safe on the road as the seasons change into the wet and cold fall period.

“Some of the things you can do is get a good rest before you go,” she says. “Make sure your vehicle is ready for the trip, check your tires to make sure they’re not badly worn or under inflated, make sure your lights are working properly and use them.”

Pozer also advises you to check Drive BC before heading out.
