Cougars’ Mega Jackpot Night to benefit 18 non-profits

There will be yet another big Mega 50/50 winner at a Prince George Cougars game later this month.

In partnership with Integris Credit Union, $20,000 is already in the pot and for the first time in team history, 18 different non-profit organizations will receive all funds and proceeds.

“We are very excited about the possibilities presented by this Cougars 50/50 Mega Jackpot,” says Integris Manager of Strategic Partnerships Dan Wingham in a statement.

“This is a unique opportunity to leverage Integris community investment dollars with our generous, ‘all in’ PG friends and neighbours. Our goal is to start 2018 in the best way possible for the 18 organizations that will benefit from this fundraising opportunity. The impact of these organizations on the PG community is incredible so we hope the public will help us to set a new Cougars Jackpot record by buying 50/50 tickets and joining us at the game on January 19th! We are delighted to know that all funds raised will stay here in PG benefiting everyone who calls this place home.”

Prince George Search and Rescue (PGSAR) is one of the chosen organizations and its President, Ian Leitch, says this is a chance for the public to meet the volunteers.

“Search and Rescue offers a wide variety of services within the community from training, search and rescue prevention efforts, and part of some of our members put together specific teams that we offer. We are a larger team and we offer mutual aid support for surrounding communities as well.”

The 17 other organizations listed for this event include:

  • Two Rivers Gallery = Maker Lab
  • Canadian Cancer Society = Cops Tour de North
  • PG Folkfest Society = Coldsnap
  • YMCA of Northern BC = Foundry PG
  • Big Brother Big Sisters = Community Shuttles
  • School District 57 (SD57) = Frozen Warriors Program
  • The Exploration Place
  • Elder Citizens Recreation Association
  • Prince George Native Friendship Centre
  • Otway Caledonia Nordic Club
  • Association Advocating for Women and Community (AWAC)
  • Phoenix Transitions Society
  • Hart Ski Hill = Education Program
  • Connaught Youth Centre
  • Spruce City Wildlife Association (SCWA)
  • PG Humane Society
  • SPCA of Northern BC

Leitch hopes this featured night can also be a celebration of local volunteerism.

“All of these organizations, in my opinion, are the real unsung heroes in all of our community. They do incredible work behind the scenes and they offer real gift to the north.”

The Mega 50/50 Jackpot night takes place on Friday, January 19th, when the Cats take on the Lethbridge Hurricanes at the CN Centre.
