Operation Red Nose driving for 450 volunteers in PG

Operation Red Nose is stepping-up their campaign to bring in volunteers to offer safe rides home throughout Christmas and the New Year.

The holiday season isn’t for another two months, but spokesperson Andrea Johnson says the community has already stepped up.

“So far we have 72 people who have registered to volunteer with us this year, but we are working toward our goal of 450 volunteers,” she says.

Johnson expects to give their 10,000th ride, this season.

“In the last couple of years, we have consistently given over 1,000 rides every year and right now, we stand at 9,049 rides in our 16 year-history,” she says.

To volunteer, she says you “Must be 19 years old, have a valid driver’s licence, and you can apply online at ORNPG.ca and you must also fill out a criminal record check form.”
