The Prince George RCMP has responded to a social media threat made to a local high school.
Just after 6PM on Wednesday, police received several reports about a social media post suggesting violence that would happen at DP Todd Secondary School on Tuesday, April 3rd.
The post was taken down a short time later according to Mounties.
Investigators are currently assisting School District 57 (SD57) to ensure the safety of all students.
Police remind parents to play a role in their child’s social media activity and to report any suspicious activity.
PARENTAL TIPS:
- Check social media accounts and contact lists to see who your child is chatting with;
- Ensure that your child knows how to block unwanted contacts;
- Teach children how to be responsible with webcams. Keep webcams unplugged when not in use;
- Create an environment where your child feels safe and they can talk about secrets;
- Look for changes in behavior and ask questions.
