WATCH: RCMP call in ERT to help with drug trafficking arrest on Range Road

WATCH:

RCMP executed a search warrant at a home on Range Road Thursday night, with help from an Emergency Response Team (ERT).

Armoured truck and helicopter units were brought in due to a “high-risk assessment” for regular on-duty officers.

“The ERT is a tactical team; they’re specially trained. In the drug world, not only do the offenders want to ensure their product isn’t taken away by the police, but there are other criminals in the community that can benefit from that as well, and we often see violence as a result.”

– RCMP Supt. Warren Brown

Police found meth and two sawed-off rifles in the home, less than a week after carfentanil and GHB were seized from a Central Street hotel.

A man and woman were taken into custody and Mounties are anticipating more in the weeks ahead.
