“Prolific car thief” arrested by PG RCMP

A 32-year old Prince George man, known to police for being a prolific car thief, has been taken into custody.

Just before 7am service members identified a vehicle reported stolen earlier in the week near 5th Avenue and Highway 97.

Officers attempted to pull the car over where the driver took off, hitting a curb and making the car in-operatable.

The man eluded police by fleeing on foot behind a near by residence where they and had to call in the RCMP’s Air 3 Helicopter along with a service dog.

The driver was located hiding under a stairwell by the police dog and was arrested for possession of stolen property.

The man was already wanted by officers for another unrelated theft of a vehicle. Charges will be requested for both investigations.

No further information will be released by police on this matter.
