Arlene Gagne has been named to the BC Trucking Association‘s Board of Directors.
The owner of the Prince George-based Lodgewood Enterprises Ltd. will serve her first term. Each term lasts for one year.
While the bulk of her first year will be dedicated to learning, Gagne does have a long-term goal in mind.
“I want to become an expert on compiling information and putting that forward to government and seeing the flow of the changes and the ideas that come from the people who are on the ground everyday working”
Based in PG, Gagne understands the challenges facing the trucking industry in the north. While here is some layover, such as the cost of moving goods, there is one issue she identified that is specific to northern BC.
“Our biggest challenges here are about access,” explains Gagne.
“Getting through our roadways, in an efficient amount of time, moving the goods in an efficient and cost-effective way, and not being held up by red tape.”
Gagne refers to red tape as the lengthy permitting system, which she believes can be streamlined. She says it will take time, but starts with roadways.
The BCTA Board of Directors consists of 30 members from across the province. There is also a six-member executive committee and a director to serve by special appointment.
