Review of BC Hydro underway

The BC government has launched a two-phase review of BC Hydro.

In the first phase, the province is working with the company to identify cost savings, efficiencies, and new revenue streams to keep the price of electricity low.

The second phase will look at taking those recommendations and create a panel to ensure BC Hydro is adapting to technological change and climate action.

BC Hydro rates have gone up by 25 per cent since 2013, and more than 70 per cent since 2001.

The report on the first phase will be released fall 2018, while the second phase will deliver the recommendations to the government summer or fall 2019.
