WATCH: Thunderstorm, aging infrastructure causes another sinkhole on Winnipeg Street

WATCH:

Winnipeg Street is closed heading North due to another sinkhole following Wednesday’s thunderstorm.

Aging infrastructure is also a reason for the incident as crews will replace the pipe before they repave the road.

“We’re going into this exploring and we know the closure will last into next week for sure as it will probably be a good number of days because of the excavation and where a cavity like this might be.”

– PG Engineering Manager Dave Dyer

Residents will be diverted onto either 20th Avenue or Carney Street.

The City also attended to a pair of sinkholes back in 2014, and one as recent as May 15th.
