Number of evacuees increase in Prince George

There are now 1,300 evacuees who have registered in Prince George.

The City is working with surrounding communities to increase accommodation options so residents have a comfortable place to stay during the wildfires.

Availability for motels and hotels are fluctuating in PG and the city has reached out to Williams Lake, Quesnel, and Fort St. John to see how many rooms they can offer.

Those who are arriving in the Northern Capital are being asked to head to the Emergency Reception Centre at the CN Centre on Ospika Boulevard.

All YMCA’s have opened their doors to families impacted by the wildfires.

Amanda Alexander, CEO of the YMCA of Northern BC said in a statement “We know that the province and many of BC’s children and families are in a state of emergency right now and we welcome all people impacted by the wildfires to find refuge at the Y.”
