WATCH: A Dry August leads to new PG weather record

WATCH:

Prince George saw its driest August since 1943, according to Environment Canada.

Less than ‘7mL’ fell last month, which is 13% of the normal count, compared to the more than ’15mL’ over Labour Day weekend.

“We have a couple of days that are dry, but we’re expecting another significant system that will sweep through the central interior later Friday and into Saturday and, at that point, we could see an additional 10 to 15 millimetres,”

– Meteorologist David Wray

The rain helped with fire suppression efforts out west as Fort St. James is now off its Evacuation Alert.
