Cougars fall flat; Medicine Hat is the top Cat

The scoring woes for the Prince George Cougars continued in a 4-1 Friday night loss to the Medicine Hat Tigers.

The Cougars did not find the back of the net until the third period when captain Josh Curtis notched his first of the season and his first since February 17th.

Prince George has just five goals during a current four-game losing streak.

They are sitting with a Western Conference-low 14 goals in eight games.

Only (0-7) Swift Current, with 13, has scored less in the WHL.

Tigers defenceman Linus Nassen tallied on the first shot, just 28-seconds into the game.

Nassen, named the first star, added a pair of assists.

Medicine Hat enjoyed period leads of 1-0 and 3-0.

The Cougars power-play went zero-for-five (0/5) and is now a league-worst two-for-39 (5.1%).

The Tigers were one-for-five (1/5) with the man-advantage.

Taylor Gauthier made 26 saves as Medicine Hat outshot Prince George 30-23.

The 2-5-0-1 Cougars, who have lost four straight, continue their three-game Central Division road trip when they visit the 3-4-0-1 Lethbridge Hurricanes tonight and the 3-3 Kootenay Ice Sunday.

Prince George is tied with the 2-5-0-1 Kamloops Blazers for third in the B.C. Division, a point ahead of the 2-8 Kelowna Rockets.

The Blazers lost 4-3 in a shootout to the Vancouver Giants in Langley, while the Rockets beat the Tri-City Americans 3-2 Friday night.
